K9  Kidz

Dogs and Kids

Just as much as we believe in socializing puppies to prevent problems in adulthood, we also are passionate about educating children in dog safety as well as in responsible pet ownership and compassion toward all animals. We offer kids safety talks, as well as "Be A Tree" Presentation for Schools and Boy/Girl
Scouts. Please contact us if you would like us to come to your school or a boy/girl scout meeting!
In April of 2015 we developed a Kids after school program in cooperation with Lucky Dog Rescue and Hillside Community Center on a volunteer basis. In 8 weeks the dogs learned some basic training skills by working with actual rescue dogs to make them more adoptable. At the same time the kids were educated on responsible pet ownership and dog safety. These K9 kids gained confidence and a sense of responsibility toward themselves, their peers, the dogs and their community. We are hoping to offer a similar program to other centers as well as at our facility in the future.

We are currently offering a Summer camp for Kids. This will be a week-long, 3 hours a day ( 9am - 12 noon) intensive version of the pilot program above. We have 2 age groups. The kids will be working with kid-friendly, well-mannered dogs and it will give them an insight in dog husbandry as well as training and rescue. Each camp is limited to 10 participants and we require a minimum of 5 to make it happen! The registration fee includes at-shirt. Please pack snacks and drinks.
